Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honble Minister of Education, Government of India, visited IIT Madras inaugurated the Hyundai Centre for Cancer Genomics, a landmark initiative established through the CSR collaboration between Hyundai Motor Company India Foundation and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
The unveiling took place in the presence of Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras; Mr. Gopala Krishnan CS, Trustee, Hyundai Motor India Foundation; and Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations), IIT Madras and the Project coordinator, Prof. S. Mahalingam, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras.
As part of the ceremony, the Hon’ble Minister also released the Hyundai Hope on Wheels Compendium, which captures the vision, impact, and collaborative journey of this CSR-led initiative in advancing cancer genomics research in India and highlights the social impact created by the screening & awareness camps and vaccination drives conducted as part of this program.
During the visit, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan interacted with faculty members and researchers from the Hyundai Centre for Cancer Genomics and was given an overview of the research facilities and ongoing work, highlighting the role of industry–academia partnerships in driving translational research and societal impact.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment by Hyundai Motor India Limited and IIT Madras to support cutting-edge research and innovation through meaningful CSR engagement.
