The Sophisticated Analytical Instruments Facility (SAIF), formerly known as RSIC, was established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to provide data collection facility from sophisticated analytical equipment to scientific communities at nominal charges for their advanced research. Today, the facility is a major centre for spectral measurements, molecular and crystal structure determination as well as materials characterization and offers Advanced Characterization Facilities to the academia in the entire region.
The Centre has been specializing in spectroscopy and structure determination for the past two decades. It is maintained by a group of well-recognized scientists with expertise over a range of spectroscopic technologies used for structure determination. Workshops, seminars and conferences are conducted to explain the functioning of the instruments to scientists all over India. They are also provided hands-on experience on various instruments.
