
IIT Madras ends phase-1 placements with record 1,085 offers from 226 firms

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras concluded the first phase of its final placement process on a historic high by attracting as many as 1085 job offers made by a total of 226 companies.
With this, the premier institute has seen 73 per cent of students who registered for placements receive job offers in phase-I of campus placements that began on December 1, 2021.
Another record that IIT Madras witnessed was in terms of international offers at 45 from 14 companies during phase one alone. Further, 62 startup companies made 186 offers during this Phase I process.
A total of 45 international offers were made in this Phase I, out of which 11 offers came from Rakuten Mobile, Inc. Other international offers came from Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid and Uber.
Phase one of placements at IIT Madras saw American Express lead the list of top recruiters in terms of number of job offers during 2021-22 with 16 offers, followed by Microsoft India Pvt. Ltd (16), Bajaj Auto Ltd (15), EXL Service (15), IQVIA (14), Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC (13), ICICI Bank (12), Larsen & Toubro (12) and Amazon (11), among others.
Among sectors, core engineering and technology saw the highest share of job offers at 42 per cent so far, followed by data science and analytics (19 per cent), IT and software development (18 per cent), R&D (8 per cent), financial services (7 per cent) and management (6 per cent).
Combined with the 231 pre-placement offers (PPOs), which arise from summer internships and made before phase one, the total number of job offers stands at 1,316 at the end of phase one. A total of 1,500 students registered for phase one placements of 2021-22.
