Details

Blood flow and pressure induce vascular adaptation under various physiological and diseased conditions. This is an important problem in biomedical engineering. Over the past decade a constrained mixture model for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) has been developed to understand the disease process and associated growth and remodeling. It holds a promise with regard to disease progression prediction. This talk will, first, provide a brief overview of stress-mediated growth and remodeling of arteries and clinical aspects of AAA. It will then highlight recent advances in patient-specific growth and remodeling of AAA, hemodynamics, and development of physics-based machine learning approaches to predict individual AAA growth.
