A new master’s program for international students is created at IIT Madras in nine niche areas. These interdisciplinary master’s degrees will bring students with diverse interests to the IIT Madras campus, and provide them the benefit of the rich teaching and research environment at IITM.
The two year master’s degree will closely mirror the highly successful Interdisciplinary Dual Degree programs currently offered to IITM BTech students. The programs require students to go through a rigorous curriculum of core and elective courses, in addition to undertaking a research project in their second year. The international students will additional also take up courses in research skills and Indian culture.
The competitive selection process requires the international students will apply to the Office of Global Engagement, providing details of their undergraduate degree, letters of recommendation, an essay stating their interest in a specific ID program, and appropriate document or ability to prove the basic English language skills. A rigorous procedure for selection of top students will be undertaken. Scholarships will be offered to top performers. International students with 4+ year Undergraduate degrees in any relevant discipline may apply to these programs.
