Details

Vibroacoustic response of functionally graded plates under transient loadings of both mechanical and acoustic nature have been carried out in this work. The unknowns of the functionally graded plate are determined using the conventional first-order shear deformation theory in order to incorporate the effects of transverse shear and rotary inertia. The midsurface variables are determined using the finite element method. Transient structural response is determined using the Newmark Beta time marching scheme and the acoustic pressure in the free field is obtained using time-domain Rayleigh integral. The effective material properties of the FG plate and the transient response of both the structural and acoustic fields have been computed in MATLAB. A parametric study is done to examine the change in the transient behaviour of the FG plates due to change in the volume fraction index, thickness ratio and boundary conditions for pure FG configurations.
