Details
A reconfigurable gain circuit for a bi-directional LCLC resonant converter is proposed in this work. The proposed reconfigurable circuit enables high gain in forward power transfer mode by configuring the secondary circuit as an active voltage doubler; during reverse power transfer mode, the secondary circuit is reconfigured to a full bridge network to facilitate charging operation by satisfying the steady state gain requirement. The converter with the proposed reconfigurable circuit operates for wide battery voltage with the help of a hybrid control scheme. The presence of an LCLC resonant tank and hybrid control scheme ensures soft switching for the primary and secondary switches. The proposed control scheme ensures synchronous rectification in forward, reverse power transfer mode and improves the overall power conversion efficiency. The proposed reconfigurable gain circuit, the control for forward and reverse power flow is verified experimentally for an output of 800 V/ 1 kW hardware prototype fed from 24 V - 54 V input.
