Abstract: The assessment of motions of fixed or floating structure’s motion by extreme waves has been a topic of keen interest in ocean engineering. In this context, an attempt is made to study the characteristics of directional focusing waves in the laboratory. The First-order wave paddle displacements were generated using the linear superposition principle by applying a constant steepness spectrum for a single wave group associated with different directionals, with phases set to focus on a predefined location. The experimental test cases span from narrow to broadband spectra having central frequencies (fc=0.68Hz, 0.85Hz), bandwidth ratios (∆f = 0.5, 0.75) and five incident directions ranging from (-25deg θ
