Being a hybrid combination between optical imaging and ultrasound, photoacoustic / optoacoustic imaging and tomography has matured as a powerful biomedical imaging modality, over the past two decades, benefiting from the rich spectroscopic optical contrast, deep penetration into living mammalian tissues in the near-infrared spectral window, high spatial and temporal resolution. In this talk, I would be discussing more about my recent research work on developing optoacoustic tomography systems for imaging small animals and human peripheral joints targeting various preclinical and clinical applications.
