Details

A new class of traversable wormhole was recently constructed which depends only on local bulk dynamics rather than an explicit coupling between distinct boundaries. We consider quantum fields in the background of space-time obtained by certain $\mathbb{Z}_2$ quotient of BTZ black hole. This class applies to both asymptotically flat and asymptotically AdS spaces. The expectation value of the stress-energy tensor can be computed exactly by considering its pullback to the covering space. Upon suitable choice of boundary condition, the Average Null Energy condition is violated and results in a traversable wormhole.
