Global manufacturing industry represents 13 trillion $ of the global GDP of 85 T$, a share of 16%. During the last decades, India has progressively become the hub of manufacturing and 17% of new industry investments are in manufacturing, employing a bit more than 27 million of the workforce. New technologies have largely contributed to sustainable industry and the concept of industry 5.0 revolves around the basic idea of human well being by associating industry 4.0 with humans. The development of internet has dramatically increased the data and diffusion of new concepts, ideas and manufacturing routes. New routes implies new materials tailored to environmental constraints and new technologies that make manufacturing a viable field. With this background, the informal presentation will focus on additive manufacturing, welding and annexed techniques. From the experience stemming from industry and academic work, some real successful and fake cases will be shortly resumed.
