6-layered hexagonal (6H) barium triple perovskites with general formula Ba3MM’2O9 are interesting due to the various physical properties they exhibit like quantum spin liquid behaviour, large magnetoelastic effect, microware dielectric resonating properties etc by virtue of their specific structure. However, this work takes a different turn on the hexagonal triple perovskites. We aim to address the lacunae in the literature regarding exchange bias effect studies in B-site (3d-3d-4d transition metal cations) multi-ion doped 6H barium triple perovskites. Structure property correlations in three novel 6H triple perovskite barium ruthenates are explored. Exciting magnetic properties like exchange bias phenomena and Griffiths phase like behaviour is observed in the systems. Compositional selection to induce higher degree of site disorder, mixed valency and spatial or magnetic inhomogeneity is carried out to achieve competing magnetic interactions in these systems.
