Most modern organizations have been leveraging the power of physics-based simulations (FEA, CFD etc.) for designing products and making sure that those products will function well as intended. More recently companies have started doing more with simulations to understand how products can be manufactured in more sustainable ways, without compromising on quality or significantly increasing the costs. Simulation technologies are also increasingly being used to model various aspects of the world around us and even model the functioning of the human body, resulting in entirely new treatment options and better wearable technologies. The accelerated adoption of AI, cloud-based high performance computing (HPC), and the metaverse have vastly expanded the value of simulations in every industry and opened many more exciting career opportunities. In this talk, we will review the impact of established applications of simulations, delve into some emerging applications, review the transformational potential of the combination of AI and simulation, and discuss career opportunities in various industries.
