Details

There has been a flurry of experimental activity in the search and identification of three-dimensional frustrated quantum materials promising to host the exotic Quantum Spin liquid phase -- a highly correlated long-range entangled state of matter which remains disordered down to zero temperature. Surprisingly many of the promising candidate materials feature a spin moment which is greater than S=1/2, and yet have strong quantum fluctuations, defying conventional wisdom. We address the question of their precise microscopic identification within a parton approach of Abrikosov pseudo-fermion representation of spins within the projective symmetry group framework. Of particular interest will be the S=1 Pyrochlore lattice material [NaCaNi2F7] (1) and the Trillium lattice compound [K2Ni2(SO4)3] (2) lattice where one would like to understand the origin of the observed inelastic neutron scattering profile.
