The Institute encourages its alumni to support their alma mater through their Time, Talent, or Treasure. While existing awards such as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) recognize achievements beyond the campus, there is a need to honour those who contribute directly to the Institute through their time and expertise.
To address this, IIT Madras proposes the Distinguished Alumni Service Award (DASA) to recognize alumni who have rendered exceptional service and contributed significantly to the Institute’s growth and global standing. This award celebrates those who actively give back, reinforcing IITM’s values, ethos, and culture.
The Office of the Alumni and Corporate Relations receives nominations each year under specific categories for the Distinguished Alumni Service Awards with the final selection is made by a committee appointed by the Director.
The awards are presented annually on the Institute Day. Here is the list of awardees since the inception of the awards in 2026.
