Details

Material absorbers and frequency selective surfaces have replaced their conventional counterparts due to their low profile nature, scalability property and user-controlled frequency characteristics. However, the research in this field focuses on the topological optimization of structures using standard substrates such as FR4, polyimide, Rogers etc., which have low dielectric constant. This limits unit cell size, which becomes a matter of concern when one looks for miniaturization at low frequencies, which a high permittivity substrate can overcome. Exploring new materials for metamaterial applications is a significant factor that adds more degrees of freedom to the device design. This work involves finding suitable materials for metamaterial devices in the microwave region.
