Sagar Laygude, Namrata Kamat and Rajashekar Reddy, former Dual Degree students (2013 graduates), Department of Biotechnology have started a company, Life Catalyst Technologies, incubated under the Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Support Scheme, an initiative of the Department and Dr. Shrikumar Suryanarayan, Adjunct Faculty.  They have bagged the First Prize at the following competitions :

1.   INDIAFRICA Business Venture sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.  The competition selected one winner from India and one winner from Africa to have a stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland for a presentation. They were chosen as the winner from India from a fairly large number of applicants after three rounds of evaluation including a presentation at Johannesburg.            

2.   India's best biotechnology business plan competition – ABLE BEST, organized by ABLE (Association for Biotechnology Led Enterprises) and supported by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
