Kiranmayi Malapaka, Ph.D. scholar (BT11D014), Department of Biotechnology has won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the International Symposium on ‘Genomics in Health and Disease’ and 40th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Human Genetics (ISHG 2015) held at the National Institute of Immunohematology, Mumbai during January 28 - 30, 2015.

Her presentation was entitled ‘Non-synonymous SNPs in the Catestatin/ Parastatin region of Chromogranin A: profound associations with plasma glucose, blood pressure and risk for type 2 diabetes/hypertension’. This work on more than 3500 human subjects from South Indian and North Indian ancestries was carried out in collaboration with researchers/clinicians from the University of Madras, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research Chandigarh, Madras Diabetic Research Foundation and Madras Medical Mission. She is guided by Dr. Nitish R. Mahapatra.
