Protein aggregation is a major unsolved problem in biochemistry with implications for several human diseases (including type II diabetes, corneal dystrophy and most of neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, huntington's disease etc.) as well as for biotechnology and bio-material science products (such as human recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, industral enzymes and vaccines).
This computational method is developed to predict the change in aggregation rate upon mutation which can be helpful for identifying the proteins/peptides with higher/lower aggregation rates for their role in diseases or
it can also be used to find the mutants with higher aggregation rate for their commercial application as a biomaterial, biosensors, fibrillar peptide hydrogel, drug delivery vehicles and extracellular matrix etc.
AggreRATE-Pred is a linear regression based tool which can predict the change in aggregation rate upon point mutation for the given protein.
