Abstract1:1 complex formation in the ground state and non-emitting encounter complex formation in the excited state between 2-naphthol and butylamine are discussed. On increasing the amine concentration, fluorescence intensity and the lifetime of the complex decrease with appearance of another red shifted emission band, which is ascribed to a triplex.
