Description: Hydrologic cycle, space and time scales, classification of hydrologic models. Precipitation: mechanisms, types, spatial and temporal variation, use of IDF and DAD curves, design storm, probable maximum precipitation. Infiltration: process description, measurement, modelling - Richard's equation, GreenAmpt model, SCS model. Evaporation: process description, modified Penman equation, evaporation control. Evapotranspiration: process description, measurement, irrigation scheduling. Overland flow: Hortonian and Saturation overland flow mechanisms. Drainage basin characteristics, stream network laws.
