The following Teams from IIT Madras have won the ‘Design : Impact Awards for Social Change organized by the Titan Company in collaboration with Tata Trusts:

  • Vivek Sarda and Swostik Sourav Dash, former Dual Degree Mechanical Engineering students and currently working on projects under Dr. Sujatha Srinivasan at the TTK Center for R2D2, for winning the award under the ‘products for persons with disability’ category for their ‘NeoMotion Mobility Solutions’  that comprises of NeoFly – a fully customizable wheelchair and NeoBolt – a motor-powered clip-on to convert NeoFly into a safe, road-worthy vehicle, and enable safe and independent mobility for persons with disability.​

  • Anand Parikh, former Dual Degree Engineering Design student guided by Dr. V. B. Narayana Murthy and Dr. Venkatesh Balasubramanian, for winning the award under the ‘healthcare’ category for his Start-up’s ‘Shira Clamp’, a surgical instrument that makes the complex surgical process of coupling small blood vessels easier and faster.

The Award provides a grant of upto Rs.65 lakhs for each project, an opportunity for seed funding of an equal amount, and mentorship support.
